Da Dagoria Maidam or Lachit Barphukan Maidam

sanskritibhuyan9

A few Buranjis briefly describe Lachit's victory over the Mughal naval fleet, led by Ram Singh, in the Battle of Saraighat. Da Dagoria died soon after in Kaliabor and was buried at Teok in Jorhat in a maidam, which are burial grounds for Ahom royals and nobles. After Saraighat fight he died in Jorhat near Ladoighor. This maidam was found and govt built his statue. Lachit Borphukan would die in 1672. His remains lie in rest at the Lachit Maidaam constructed in the same year by King Udayaditya Singha at Hoolungapara 16 km from Jorhat. His patriotic fight in the 17th century saved Assam from being captured by the Mughals when he ordered his fellowman to mount his bed on the boat. As a result of his ill health, he died shortly after the battle ended. Therefore, He is our supreme leader and there is no "why".
